Most cars have the engine in the front. "Pop" the hood. The engine might be dirty or clean, but don't let it intimidate you!It is a machine that makes your car go.The radiator is the Black thing right behind the grille. It "Cools" your engine. The engine is usually covered in hoses and junk, somewhere under there is a METAL engine that burns gasoline and "Propels" your car down the road.Right in the middle of the top, or off to one side is the "Fuel Delivery System" or Carburator/ Fuel injection system. You might not be able to see it, but it's there. On the front of the engine (or off to one side) are the "Accessories". These consist of the Alternator, Power steering pump, Smog Pump, Air Conditioning compressor and anything else "Run" by the engine via a "BELT".( HOWARD WILNER auto-repair tips)

HOWARD WILNER repair parts => The owner of the GTB was a young woman with a wild streak who would drag race other cars from the corner of 72nd and 1st Ave to the end of the street where the building was. I'd be standing in front of the building and I would hear this loud roar coming followed by the sight of that red missile. Three summers later I returned to work at the Edgewater and the owner of the Car

How to Choose a Car Repair Shop?
1.Need your car repaired? Don't wait until it needs repair, act now and be prepared when choosing a car repair shop. First, talk to your neighbors, friends, and family. Firsthand experience is usually the best advice. If you're new to the neighborhood, this is a great way to meet your neighbors.2.When looking for a car repair shop, find out if the shop honors your car's warranty and do they have warranties on their service? Check to see if they display warranty information, pricing (flat rate for certain jobs or a calculated fee), and services offered.3.When you visit the shop, check to see if they are certified. Do they have any service awards? Do they have memberships with various organizations? Are there trade school diplomas or certificates for the mechanics? None of these posted items guarantee good service, but it does illustrate achievement.4.Look around. Is it neat and organized? Is it busy? Are there many employees, so work is done quickly? Is the staff courteous and helpful? Are all their policies posted?
First try the Paper, Online message boards like Craigslist and "Trader" type magazines. Next, place want ads. These can be extremely successful. Just a couple of lines: Wanted, old cars, Bodies, Parts, Etc. Write whatever you want. Finally, ask around. Tell everyone that you are looking for an old Roadster Body, Truck cab or whatever you want for your next project. If you plan to resell your stuff, play it cool. Don't run around telling everyone that you want such and such car.... then when you find one, brag about how much you made! Just keep it low key. Be honest, tell people you might sell something if something else comes along, be discreet and people will continue to tip you off to good Old Cars!

If you're haunted by your ABS light and you've narrowed the problem down to the brain that controls your ABS, the ABS relay (or ABS controller), it's time to replace it.You've already checked the fuse. The dealer will charge big bucks to do this repair, but you can save a lot of money if you replace your own ABS relay. When your ABS is malfunctioning or off, your car's safety is compromised. If your vehicle is equipped with any type of traction control or stability management system, there is a good chance this is disabled, as well.

HOWARD WILNER automotive from various brands => Change the oil regularly in order to protect a diesel car--more often than in a gasoline-burning engine. Most diesel engines require a thicker grade of oil than a gasoline engine.Keep the injectors on a diesel car clean. This provides good flow to the pistons. The fuel injectors disperse the fuel into the cylinders for proper combustion.Maintain your glow-plugs. Glow-plugs operate two different ways. The first way is that you actually have an electrical cord with a plug outside the grill area of your diesel car. This is so you can run an extension cord to your vehicle and plug it in so your glow-plugs will keep the fuel heated in cold weather. Diesel fuel thickens when it gets cold. Glow-plugs help it maintain the right consistency.

If your vehicle gets stuck and you are having trouble getting it out, send your friend to get help. It's better to wait for help than get injured hours away from a main road. Be aware of your surroundings. If you need to call for help, you need to be able to tell rescuers exactly how to get to you. Tow straps can snap, causing serious injury or death. If you are using one, make sure no one is standing near it.

HOWARD WILNER - FAQ
An easy way to substantially improve your cars handling and extend the life of your tires is to be alert to signs of misalignment and to have the wheels correctly aligned immediately if the signs appear. This is usually called front-end alignment, for its mostly the front tires that are affected (causes can include driving over potholes, hard driving, accidents, and just normal wear and tear). Your wheels also need aligning if you can move the steering wheel through the open window on the drivers side from outside the car. There should be no give in the steering wheel before the cars turned on. And take note of the how the car feels as youre driving, particularly on turns. Sometimes the rear tires will also need realignment, but usually only on cars that were in an accident, cars that pull boats or trailers, or those with independent rear suspension, like VWs. PLEASE NOTE: You will be able to view the tire wear best once the airs been removed.
Most important, all components that go into a renewed engine are either new or machined to the precise standards and specifications of the new car manufacturer. Also, engine builders typically install upgraded components to eliminate known problems like overheating and oil leaks that may exist in the design of the original engine. Oil flow may be improved. So a rebuilt engine may easily exceed your expectations in performance, economy and trouble-free operation.

HOWARD WILNER auto-repair tips => I know that we've had electric cars in the past. And everyone knows that electric cars are in development. But what I sensed was the death knell of the internal combustion engine, the beginning of the end of the oil age and the dawn of the electric car era. One sign that electric cars are really coming was evidence by the fact that both GM and Ford were well represented at the conference. And their attitude was vastly different that in the past. Up to now, talk of electric cars brought a condescending sneer from Detroiters, the kind of look that should be accompanied by a snarled remark: "Keep dreaming."The water pump is right near there too (usually on the front of the "BLOCK")... it "pumps" water through the engine and radiator.Next is the transmission. It is connected to the engine via the CRANKSHAFT. The engine spins, which spins the transmission.
Karl Benz proposed co-operation between DMG and Benz & Cie. when economic conditions began to deteriorate in Germany following the First World War, but the directors of DMG refused to consider it initially. Negotiations between the two companies resumed several years later when these conditions worsened and, in 1924 they signed an Agreement of Mutual Interest, valid until the year 2000. Both enterprises standardized design, production, purchasing, and sales and they advertised or marketed their automobile models jointlyalthough keeping their respective brands.

Cars are a major source of air pollution. Paying attention to our driving habits and the car we buy can effect us both long term and short term. Not everyone can afford high dollar gas saving cars, but we can make smarter choices with what we have. The following are things to look for when buying a new car to be more environmentally friendly.Look for a car that is lightly colored and has tinted windows. This will allow your car to stay cooler in hot weather.Consider using radial tires. They are cost effective and improve over all miles per a gallon.
Karaoke is all about having fun. The fist to being able to have a good time is to not care how everyone will respond to you. If you get on stage worrying that everyone is going to hate you, then you've already set yourself up to bomb.Choose songs that are in your singing range! I can't stress this enough. Picking a song that is too difficult for you, or in a bad key for you will certainly be noticed. You want to limit things that can possibly go wring so that you can put on a good show. If you're not sure what your singing range is, start keeping a list of songs you like. When you're in the car with a friend, play those songs and sing along. Ask for input from your friend; they're usually pretty honest.( HOWARD WILNER repair parts)

A maintenance schedule for your vehicle is specific to operating and climate conditions. For example: if your car is operated in cold climate conditions the oil will need to be changed more often to help keep moisture out of the engine and engine oil created by condensation. Moisture is proven to damage an engine's internal parts and will cause premature engine failure. All manufactures have specific schedules for their vehicle's service intervals that will vary slightly but also have similarities. We have created a "rule of thumb" service schedule that will be surprisingly close to the manufactures recommendation. This schedule excludes extreme use vehicles and synthetic lubrications, these variables need to be independently calculated by the user or manufacturer.
What really impressed me the most were some of the residents of the parking garage: Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Porsche 356C Cabrio, Daimler SP250, Corvette Stingray convertible and last but not least a gorgeous red Ferrari 275GTB. 275GTB was still living there but she had traded it in for a red Daytona coupe. The parking garage attendant was a nice guy and knew I was car crazy and would let me spend my lunch breaks playing with the cars he would let me start them and even drive them inside the garage, except for the Gullwing and the Ferrari.
